Pan Seared Wagyu
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 6-8 minutes
Total Time: 20 minutes
Servings: 2
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 Wagyu steak (New York, Ribeye, or Sirloin)
- Sea salt to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons of high smoke point oil (like avocado or grapeseed oil)
- 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter
- 2 cloves of garlic, smashed
- Fresh thyme or rosemary sprigs
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Remove your Wagyu steak from the freezer 60 minutes before cooking to bring it to room temperature. This promotes even cooking.
- Preheat your pan over high heat. While the pan is heating, season your Wagyu steak generously with sea salt.
- Once your pan is hot, add the oil. Place the Wagyu steak in the pan. It should sizzle immediately. This creates a beautiful crust on the steak.
- Sear the steak without moving for about 2-3 minutes on each side for medium-rare. Adjust the time according to your preferred level of doneness.
- Remove the steak from the pan and let it rest on a cutting board or plate for about 5 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the steak.
- Slice against the grain, serve, and enjoy your pan-seared Wagyu steak.
